Answers before you ask

How do I try an app before buying?
Download it and use it. A trial is the complete application for fourteen days, with nothing held back and no card up front. If it does not fit the way you work you have lost nothing but the download.
What happens when the trial ends?
The app says the trial is over and asks for a licence key. Nothing you created is deleted. Your journal, your notes and your backups stay exactly where they were and stay readable.
Is the Trade Journal safe to run near live orders?
It records passively and never places, modifies or cancels an order on its own. It also never takes keyboard focus, so a chart screenshot firing mid-trade cannot pull you away from an order ticket. The one part that does act on your account is the optional risk controls, which are off until you turn them on.
Can the risk controls really stop me trading?
Partly, and it is worth knowing exactly how far it goes. NinjaTrader gives add-ons no way to veto an order before it reaches the broker. What the guard does is cancel on arrival and flatten your open positions, so in a fast market a marketable order can still fill before the cancel lands. Flattening is what takes the risk off; the cancel is what stops the next one.
Where does the journal keep my trades?
In Documents\NinjaTrader 8\TradeJournal, as plain XML with screenshots as PNG alongside. Back it up by copying that folder. Read it without the add-on installed. Export any filtered view to CSV whenever you want.
Does the software send my data anywhere?
No. The Trade Journal makes no network calls at all, so your record of your own account cannot leave the machine. Backup Assistant writes to the destination you chose and nowhere else. Neither app reports what you do with it.
I have trades from before I installed the journal. Are they lost?
No. Load history reads NinjaTrader's own trade database for any date range you ask for, and it is safe to re-run — importing an overlapping range adds nothing and cannot duplicate a trade. Imported trades carry no chart screenshot, because that moment has passed, and they are marked as such rather than left ambiguous.
Can Backup Assistant write to a network drive or a NAS?
Yes. Any destination you can reach from the machine: an external drive, a NAS, a mapped network path, or a second internal disk. There is no approved-location list and no per-gigabyte charge.
How many computers can I install on?
One. Your licence is a signed file bound to that machine, and the app checks it on the machine itself — there is no server to ask, so nothing to go down. Reinstalling Windows, or the app, on the same computer keeps working with the same file.
How do I move to a new computer?
Open the app on the new computer, copy its machine code, and get a new licence at moligon.com/activate with the same key. There is no limit on how many times you can do that and no waiting on anyone to approve it — the only condition is that you stop using the software on the machine you left. An issued file cannot be switched off remotely, so this runs on trust in one direction and on declining further replacements in the other.
I lost my licence key.
Enter the email address you bought with at moligon.com/lost-key and your keys are emailed to that address. They are never shown on the page, so nobody else can retrieve them.
Do I pay again for updates?
Not within a major version. A version 1 licence covers every 1.x release. If a version 2 is ever substantial enough to charge for, existing owners get an upgrade price rather than a full one.
Something is broken. What do you need from me?
The app and its version, your Windows version, what you did, and what happened instead. A screenshot helps. For the journal, tradejournal.log in the folder above helps most of all — it timestamps every start, stop, captured stop and guard trip.
